Many of these solutions share several features. The majority require connectors to information systems at the application level to scan unstructured data. Additionally, they typically target application owners as their primary consumers, with only these owners able to make decisions about their data.

However, unstructured data management is a comprehensive category that includes data storage management at a lower level. Today, the data storage management aspect of data management is often guided by outdated processes, where information from application owners is rarely translated to data storage budget owners in a language that allows them to make informed decisions about data storage management.

Few products focus on unstructured data management at the infrastructure layer, assisting data storage teams in managing data storage silos, whether on-premises or in the cloud. A typical scenario requiring early and quick data insights is a migration job, often handled by service providers. Before moving data to a new location, it must be mapped to a new structure. This requires the team to learn what is inside the source folders, whether it’s application data, shared folders, or home drives.

The lack of this information can stymie service providers and slow down their work. Most methods used today rely on manual or semi-manual analysis, which is inherently error-prone. Natural data growth will make these processes increasingly time-consuming, potentially consuming the majority of the time for service providers handling these operations.

This challenge must be solved intelligently to keep teams efficient amid exponential data growth.

Our solution does not scan all the data but uses patented algorithms to infer information effectively without needing to read all the data.
